Le 29 novembre 2003, l'Institut Culturel de Bretagne et le CREDIB (Centre de Recherche et de Diffusion de l'Identité Bretonne) organisaient à Saint-Nazaire, au Centre de Formations Supérieures de Gavy, un colloque sur l'histoire de la construction navale dans les estuaires de la Loire en Bretagne et de la Clyde en Ecosse et sur les liens qui les unissent. Le passé le plus ancien, les moments importants, les temps difficiles et aussi les perspectives d'avenir y ont été évoqués.
The historical links between the Clyde and the Loire shipbuilding industries
On November 29th 2003, the Cultural Institute of Brittany (ICB) and the Center for Research and Diffusion of the Breton Identity (CREDIB) organized in Saint-Nazaire on the site of the University of Gavy a colloquium on the history of the links between the shipyards of the Clyde and those of the shipbuilding industry in the Loire estuary. The speakers revived the distant past both on the Clyde and around Saint-Nazaire, the high points and features of shipbuilding on the Clyde and Loire estuaries. The difficult times are not left out but a new future, perhaps as bright as the past was, perhaps not, is now foreseen if the industry can adapt itself to the new challenges.
